Brian Rueger, founder of the MI-Auburn Chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) educated the club on their mission to get children off the floor for sleeping. Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a national organization with over 400 chapters that builds and supplies individual bunk-style beds for children in need.
The Auburn chapter was started 6 years ago and serves 12 zip codes in the Great Lakes Bay region and now provides ~400 beds per year; entirely supported by donations and volunteer labor.
They conduct about 10 build days per year and have demonstrated the capability to produce 56 beds in 2.5 hours. Final delivery to clients requires 4-6 volunteers, where beds are assembled and ready for sleep for their grateful children.
